PSP Hardware Issues

Many early adopters of the Sony PSP have claimed serious build-quality issues with the portable game lover, including buttons that could't be fully pressed because of the position in the LCD screen, also with the discs which will eject themselves in the event the player in itself has been twisted. NFG Games includes an enjoyable write-up adressing many of the difficulty with the buttons, including this image of the location where the right-most D-pad button as well as the left-most, 'square' control button actually sit down on the top edges with the LCD panel inside, inducing the buttons to really hit (and quite often scrape past) the sting from the panel—not a big problem for your square button, people say, but a killer an internet make use of the directional pad.

And while I speak a bit in the international language of Humorous ASCII Art, a youtube video entirely on a Japanese website best illustrates the problem from the ejecting PSP media, where only a slight twist to your case—something that will easily happen throughout a mildly rigorous (or sexy) game session—causes the UMD discs to pop-up and out from the machine itself. To add damage to insult, the UMD are made so about leave a stamp-sized part of their spinning disc confronted with scratches—something almost certain to happen in case a rotating disc goes flying from the air.

No word from Sony yet, but keep this under consideration before you decide to drop $600 while on an imported PSP. You might be being Sony's Revision 1 Product Test Team.
